Kinora

Kinora is a vibrant online community and marketplace created by My Plan Manager for those living with disability to reach their goals and make the best of their NDIS funding. Kinora’s unique 360 approach is achieved by harnessing the wisdom of the crowd together with lived experience, expertise and speciality disability services for better outcomes. As a founder member of a small team, I have been involved in almost all aspects of bringing this startup to life including strategy, vision, branding, marketing, product and design.

This unique startup was just recognised by the Australian Financial Review as an AFR BOSS Most Innovative Company.

Business Objective

  • Compliment and bolster My Plan Managers business proposition, capabilities and revenue with this new acquisition channel.

Customer Problem

  • For participants, finding the right provider is difficult. Directories only provide a one-dimensional approach to finding the right provider. As a result, many participants are not getting the best outcomes or value for the NDIS budget

Design Challenge

  • Being a new business, the Kinora brand had to be created alongside the core product. Multiple aspects of the were in flux at the same time

  • Being a largely misunderstood space, the approach needed to be agile and flexible, and the experience needed to adapt the more we learnt

  • The product needed to differentiate from the numerous directories already available. The experience needed to provide the participant with the ability to engage with a community of answers and a marketplace of solutions seamlessly.

Achievements

  • Worked closely with the GM of Kinora to create a vision and strategy, then developed this vision into the innovative, customer-centric product Kinora is today.

  • Awarded by the Australian Financial Review an AFR BOSS Most Innovative Company award
